Get your watch's steps into Progressaurus
On Android, Progressaurus gets your steps from Health Connect, which lets health apps on your phone share data. To see your watch's steps here, its app needs to share them with Health Connect first. If the numbers don't match, let's check that connection.
How Progressaurus counts steps
- Each day runs from midnight to midnight, just as it does on your watch.
- Health Connect brings your steps together from your phone and watch, so steps recorded by both aren't counted twice.
- Each sync checks the last 7 days again, so we can pick up steps that your watch shares later.
Check which apps send your steps
In the app, open the Activity tab and tap Steps don't match your watch? You'll see which apps have shared steps with Health Connect in the last 7 days. If your watch's app isn't listed, find your brand below for help connecting it. Once it's connected, sync your watch with its app, then tap the sync button in Progressaurus.
Samsung Galaxy Watch
- Open Samsung Health, tap the menu, then Settings.
- Tap Health Connect, then App permissions, then Samsung Health.
- Allow Samsung Health to write Steps.
Your watch may take a little time to sync with Samsung Health. If today's steps look low, open Samsung Health (or pull down on its home screen) to sync your watch. Then tap the sync button in Progressaurus. You need Samsung Health 6.22.5 or later.
Google Pixel Watch and Fitbit
- Open the Fitbit app (renamed Google Health in some places) and go to Connections, then Partner apps.
- Under Sync your favourite health apps, tap Set up and accept.
- Choose what to share, including Steps, and tap Allow.
- Allow the additional access when prompted so your steps can sync in the background.
Garmin
Garmin Connect sends Steps to Health Connect after each sync with your watch, on Android 14 or later. Turn on Health Connect in Garmin Connect and allow it to share steps. The menu can vary by phone; for help finding it, see Garmin's guide.
Withings
- In the Withings app, open your Profile, then Settings.
- Tap Export health data to Health Connect, then Next and Edit permissions.
- Turn on Steps and tap Allow.
Your steps can take up to 15 minutes to appear.
Oura
In the Oura app, open the menu, then Settings, Data sharing and Health Connect, and turn on sharing. Open Oura at least once a day to keep your steps up to date.
Polar
In Polar Flow, go to General settings, turn on Health Connect and allow it to share steps. Polar shares a single step total for each day.
WHOOP
In the WHOOP app, go to More, Account & Settings, Integrations and Health Connect, then tap Set up and allow it to share steps. If you reinstall WHOOP, you'll need to allow sharing again.
Other watches
Amazfit (Zepp), Xiaomi (Mi Fitness), COROS and Suunto have settings for sharing with Health Connect. Look in your watch app's settings, or under connected or third-party apps, and allow it to share steps. If you use Huawei Health, we haven't found official guidance for connecting it to Health Connect.
Still not matching?
- Open your watch's app now and then. Some apps only share your steps when you open them.
- Check its battery settings. If Android limits what your watch's app can do in the background, your steps may take longer to appear.
- Look in Health Connect. On your phone, open Settings, then Security and privacy, Privacy controls and Health Connect. Under Data and access, open Steps to see the recorded steps and which app shared them.
- Give your watch's app priority. If two apps record the same steps, Health Connect uses the app higher on the list under Data sources and priority.
